Q: WHO DO WE CONTACT IF A HOME HAS OVERGROWN GRASS?
A: Because Summerlake covenants do not specifically address grass height, the only recourse is to report violations of Section 13-150 of the city code, which limits weed height to a maximum of ten (10) inches. Anyone can report violations to the city via their Property Maintenance Inspection Request form. While the form requires your contact information, the city will not release any of your information to the offending homeowner. You do not have to contact the Association before making a report to the city, but the Association requests you inform them of any/all violations. The city will notify the homeowner of the violation and specify a date for compliance. If the homeowner does not comply by the date specified, the city will send a crew to cut the grass, charge the homeowner for the grass cutting service and also fine them.

Q: HOW DO I VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT THE HOA, AND WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE?
A: The Association is always looking for volunteers and there is something for everyone! Volunteers reduce the Association operating costs which can help to keep our annual assessment costs down. If you would like to volunteer, please fill out and submit a form on our Contact Us page.

Q: WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLES ON THE STREET?
A: While the Association covenants have restrictions on vehicles parked in driveways, they do not address parking on city streets. The streets throughout Summerlake are city streets managed by the City of Newport News. All vehicles parked on the street must have a valid registration and state inspection and there are limitations regarding vehicle maintenance on a city street. Please contact the Newport News Police Department non-emergency number at 757-247-2500 regarding parking, vehicle maintenance or abandoned vehicles.

Q: WHAT IS THE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR TRASH PICKUP?
A: The schedule is changed and updated by the city of Newport News. You can locate the appropriate schedule on the City of Newport News's Garbage & Recycling page.

Q: CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO THE POOL AREA WHEN I RENT THE CLUBHOUSE?
A: Access to the pool is not included as part of a clubhouse rental. The pool is for use by Association members in good standing, meaning their annual assessment is paid in full/current. Members in good standing have access to the pool during normal pool operating hours. Any guests, a maximum of six per Association household, must pay the appropriate guest fees per guest to use the pool during normal business hours. See the pool rules and clubhouse rental rules on the appropriate pages on this website for additional information.

Q: HOW DO I REQUEST A DISCLOSURE PACKAGE IF I AM SELLING MY HOME?
A: To request a Disclosure Package, please provide the address and buyer(s) name(s) to our Office Manager along with the $125 fee payable at closing. Turn around time is approximately two weeks.
